Unca Chawes! (Not a real uncle, but he and my father used to jaunt round Angleey together, and he used to park his motorbike outside our house in Berkshire when visiting authors there).

This is fascinating. I love Uttley, both her Little Grey Rabbit books, Sam Pig and, especially A Traveller in Time. I don't know Ingalls Wilder at all, but you draw great parallels, thank you.

I'm going to write some more about Uttley's life soon. Her diaries are fascinating.
